Taylor Hospital
A Legacy of Compassionate Community Care
In 1910, Dr. Horace Furness Taylor and his wife Katherine, a nurse, converted their home in Ridley Park into a hospital to serve the local community. With fewer than a dozen patient rooms, the house was also home to a nurses training school. Today, more than 110 years later, Dr. and Mrs. Taylor’s dream lives on at Taylor Hospital, not far from the site of their original home.
The 107-bed acute care hospital named for its founder remains a vital part of the community, providing high-quality, compassionate care for patients in Ridley Park and southeastern Delaware County at every stage of life.
Each year, Taylor cares for more than 35,000 patients (inpatient and outpatient) and receives more than 25,000 Emergency Department (ED) visits. It also partners with local employers – large and small – to help keep their employees healthy at work and at home.
In addition to a busy ED, Taylor Hospital offers a variety of diagnostic imaging services, as well as cardiology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, and primary care services. The hospital is designated as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, meaning the quality of care it provides meets the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients. Taylor also is home to an acclaimed inpatient rehabilitation center.
